Every day workwear essentials that I have found on the high street

When it comes to office outfits, it’s important to have a balance between looking professional and feeling comfortable. Nobody wants to be fidgeting with their clothes all day long, but at the same time, you don’t want to sacrifice style, for practicality. With the right pieces, you can create an office look with a stylish yet timeless edge. So here are a few outfit ideas, with some of favourite pieces I’ve found on the high street, to help you create that perfect workwear wardrobe.

Neutral Work wear outfits

Cos currently have the very best dupe of my favourite Frankie Shop trousers, so these are a great, yet affordable alternative. With the added bonus of them being available in a wide range of colours, there’s practically a pair for every day of the week! My overall favourite detail about these is how well they mix and match with my tops and especially the blazers in my wardrobe. I would choose to style this lighter pair as a tonal look with an ecru tight-fitted roll-neck, adding in a skinny belt to cinch in the waist, which will just give a touch of definition to the overall look. Finish off the outfit with a deeper brown blazer to keep the overall look tonal, but for an added element of depth.

If you’re looking to add a dress to your workwear collection, then I’d advise searching for one that can tick lots of boxes, not just the office. I’m all about versatility and really getting the most out of everything you buy, so I’d never purchase one item to fit just one occasion. The belt adds definition and helping to create an hourglass shape, and the sleeveless design makes it versatile for Spring and Summer too. For a sleek city look, I would simply pair with my black court shoes and matching tailored coat.

For this workwear look I have been inspired by one of my favourite colour combinations of the season, grey and pink. I just love the contrast of the cool tones against the bright pop of pink. I personally like to layer my textures and shades of greys on my top half, as it allows me to combine the contrast of different greys to create depth and interest within my look. Finishing off the look with a layering shirt, which are so comfy to wear, and yet they add a layer of polish to your collar and neckline.

I’m probably biased as I’ve just bought this one myself, but how nice is this new velvet blazer:) I have been looking to add a velvet blazer to my collection since I gave my old one to a friend, so once I found this version, in this beautiful deep navy tone, I’ve hardly taken it off; It’s constantly been in my weekly rotation of outfits! Style with jeans for dress-down Fridays in the office, or go for the matching trousers for head-to-toe velvet chic.

Reiss are always brilliant at creating high-quality workwear, so it’s always a ‘go-to’ for me when I’m looking for a new suit. I love this new arrival done in a lovely soft camel, a single-breasted suit jacket with matching slim-fit trousers. The tones of this not only make it feel timeless, but it will also be highly versatile not only for other workwear looks, but on a smart but casual daily basis too.

For a final workwear look, I have opted for a skirt and knit combo. I think long column skirts are great for executing a sleek column silhouette with a gentle nod to the 90s fashion trends too. They’re also a great option whilst the weather is still cool, as you can easily add tights and high-knee boots underneath too. At the moment while it’s freezing outside, I would style this with a fitted roll neck, either in ecru or a deep caramel shade and finish with a similar tone over the top. I finished off the look by pinning my hair up to show off that neckline and adding in some statement earrings too.

And one more for luck, if you’re in need of a new office bag I have this one in a gorgeous olive tone. It’s the perfect size to fit your laptop and everything else I deem ‘essential’ to carry around with me! Remember, the key to creating a stylish office style is to choose pieces that are both functional, versatile and ultimately make you feel good when you wear them. Stick to classic shapes and neutral colors, but don’t be afraid to mix and match different pieces to create a look that’s uniquely you. With the right workwear, you can feel confident and comfortable in the office, no matter what the day throws your way.
