For Autumn/Winter 2026, the leather jacket was one of the most talked-about pieces on the runways, from the oversized shapes at Saint Laurent to the classic biker at Chanel and a cropped, sharper cut at Tom Ford. But the silhouette leading the charge is the oversized bomber: roomy, easy and quietly cool. It’s the shape I’ve leaned into most in this edit, with a couple of cropped styles and some classic bikers thrown in for good measure. The colour story has shifted too, away from black-only and into a gorgeous spread of earthy browns — dark chocolate, cognac, warm tan and even olives.
What makes a leather jacket worth the investment is how hard it genuinely works. It dresses down a floaty dress and sharpens up your jeans; it’s as at home on the school run as it is out to dinner; and unlike most trend pieces, a good one only improves with age as the leather softens and looks more lived in. Buy the shape that flatters you, in a shade you’ll genuinely reach for, and it’ll earn its place in your wardrobe for years to come.

My Edit: The Best Leather Jackets for Autumn 2026
1. The Chocolate Leather Bomber Jacket
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this is a very good example of the perfect leather jacket. It’s probably sold out already (it launched yesterday) but i’m 99.9% certain they’ll restock so worth setting an alert for!
2. The Cropped Leather Jacket
From my try on you saw above in Massimo Dutti I’d say this was my favourite. I really like that elasticated deep hem making the bomber shape stand out even more.
3. The Faux Leather Jacket
Leather jackets will be the investment piece this year, but granted they are a pretty penny. If they’re out of budget right now think about going with faux leather ( I’m refusing to call it ‘vegan’ as current marketing wants to do) But still, a good alternative with a more affordable price point and I like the shape.
4. The Suede Jacket
Suede is a nice alternative for something a little bit different. I find with Reiss their sizing is very ‘true’ so I’d personally size up once in this one for an oversized fit.
5. The Oversized Bomber Leather Jacket
For anyone who finds a fitted biker a little too ‘done’, the oversized shape is your friend. Sized up and worn slouchy over a knit, it feels modern and effortless rather than too tough. This one’s coming soon with a waitlist. Worth signing up for in my humble opinion;)
6. The Pleated Leather Jacket
Or a similar style but this time with those pleat additions offering something a little different to the rest.
7. Cropped Patch Pocket Jacket
For something smarter that will no doubt mix and match with the entirety of your wardrobe I like this little noir leather number.
8. The Classic Biker Leather Jacket
And if you’re not keen on the bomber shapes at all, keep it classic with a biker leather jacket. All Saints do these so well so I’d always have a look there first.
9. The Chic for Less Option
Saving the pennies I found this one across the high street which ticks the box for the on trend shape.
10. The Scarf Detail Leather Jacket
And the wildcard ‘something different’ this leather jacket stood out for me. Is it a coat, a scarf, a leather jacket? The intrigue keeps things interesting.
