Ibiza Style Diary: A Week in Pictures. What I’ve Been Wearing, Doing and Seeing E03

What I’ve been wearing, seeing and doing this week — a proper nosey round my life in Ibiza (and a little further afield) if you fancy a read:) First up: a trip to Mallorca. It was my first time on the island and I fell for it almost immediately. Those winding cobblestone streets have a way of slowing you right down — you can’t rush a wander through them, and honestly, you wouldn’t want to. It’s the kind of place that gets under your skin within a day.

Palma itself felt like a mini Barcelona — that same easy mix of grand old architecture and laid-back café culture. It was busy, as you’d expect, but never overwhelming; there’s a calmness to the place even when the streets are full. We based ourselves in the centre for a few days, then ventured out to explore more of the island beyond the city, which I’d highly recommend.

The heat in Mallorca was something else — even more humid than Ibiza, which is saying something, so I more or less lived in these shorts, swapping tops from one day to the next. Even that felt like one layer too many some afternoons. Naturally, it was all the excuse I needed to shop, and in my defence, I haven’t had so much high street choice for a while!
We did a LOT of eating in Mallorca, and two finds in particular deserve a proper mention. First up, a place called Kitto, home to some of the most amazing food we had all trip. The area around it was a little rough around the edges, and David and I were mid argument about absolutely nothing at the time, so we very nearly walked straight past it. Glad we didn’t. It turned out to be exactly the kind of hidden gem you hope to stumble on when you’re somewhere new, and it made for a genuinely perfect evening in the end.

And this was our second find, a restaurant tucked inside the Nobis Hotel. The setting alone was stunning, housed in one of Palma’s oldest buildings, dating all the way back to the 12th century, all high ceilings and old stone that made the whole dinner feel even more special before we’d even looked at the menu. And then there was the dessert, which was absolutely worth blowing the diet for. No regrets.

This made me giggle! Popped into Zara Women for a little mooch about the new collections and this was the entrance. All the Men lined all the way up the stairs! Hot, bored and seemingly with far better things to do that shop haha! David was sleeping at this point but I’ve no doubt he’d happly have joined them;)

And here’s Walter, very naturally, fulfilling his photography duties for a group of women off the plane. He’s growing up so fast, and it’s these school holidays especially where it’s really hit home, not least because of the frankly astonishing amount of food the boy can now put away. He’s got hollow legs I’m sure! But a gorgeous boy, biased I know but he really is:)

With full hearts and even fuller stomachs, we said goodbye to Mallorca and headed back home to Ibiza, straight to Cala Nova beach almost as soon as we’d landed. We’re still on this mission to find proper waves for our surfing attempts, but it turns out Ibiza doesn’t really do waves, not in summer anyway. Apparently winter’s the season for it, so the surfing ‘skills’ remain very much a work in progress. Watch this space.

As a general, unofficial rule, I think English people lucky enough to live somewhere sunny have forfeited the right to complain about the heat. So instead of moaning, I’ll just say this: thank goodness for loose cotton sets like these. Some days, they’re the only thing that makes the heat bearable.
And if you’re not quite hot enough already, take your gang go-karting! David loved it so much, I’m thinking of getting him a season pass for Christmas!

Sunday roast at Pikes, of course! The best place for a ‘proper’ Sunday lunch on the island. Though a bit of an oversight, wearing this favourite new white dress to a gravy-flying dinner :/ It was messy, and I got splashes all over me, I could have cried — I thought I’d ruined it, until…

One of the waitresses very kindly lent me this amazing can of magic! I don’t know how it did it, but it saved the dress! I think it takes the oil out of the stains and then they literally rubbed off with water? New number one wardrobe essential!

I finally managed to give this dress the outing it deserved. That neckline is doing all the work, it’s a genuinely flattering shape on most women, and exactly the sort of detail worth seeking out when a dress needs to earn its place in the wardrobe.

And while I’m thinking of favourite products, this little pot of skin joy has been rescuing my over-dried and salty skin! Love her herbal body washes too — if you’ve not tried them yet, you need to correct that!

Followed by a rather yummy pizza at L’Amorigen. The carbs don’t count if the dough is super thin 😉

I wore this pretty dress for a mooch around the shops in Ibiza Town, and thank you for all the lovely comments you sent me. It really is a cute one, understated at first glance, but with just enough little points of difference to keep it interesting. Exactly my sort of thing.

So here’s to sunsets and sangrias, the simple pleasures that are some of my favourite parts of our new Ibizan life. Just how I like it:)
And that’s a wrap on our week — more next week, with hopefully a wave or two to throw in for good luck! x
